PSP GO! and all-new accessories
Posted on June 8, 2009

Sony had a spot in its press-only booth area reserved for showing off the various accessories that will be available for PSP Go when it hits US shelves on October 1. There were cases, wrist straps, Sony-branded screen protectors … and wait, what was that? Since the handheld doesn’t have a standard mini USB port like the PSP-3000, we’ll have to buy all new accessories? Sad, but true.
The PSP Go has a new multifunction port on its base (check out the video!) that is used for everything from data transfer to charging to video output. While asking owners of the older model to change a USB cable is not really a big deal, the fact that more expensive existing accessories — such as component A/V cables, voice headsets and pretty much anything made to work with the 3000 — are completely incompatible is cringe-worthy. That’s not even taking into account third-party add-ons, or things like Sony’s own GPS module.
We know Sony is planning a trade-in program for UMD games; somehow we think the company won’t be extending the same offer to include cables, peripherals and other accessories.

Sony bringing PSP Go! October 1 for $249 in North America
Posted on June 7, 2009
Well its not a surprise that Sony would ship this baby to the US as early as possible. We heard from Sony at its E3 press conference that it won’t “replace” the PSP-3000 or UMD, it’s 50 percent smaller and 40 percent lighter than the original PSP. All future retail titles will have retail and PlayStation store release. Japan can look for it Nov. 1 for ¥26,800. But what consumers wont probably like is that whopping $249 price tag! What the hell sony? we though you wanted more PSP sales with this new Gaming device and yet you give it a considerably big price increase?!

PSP GO!
Posted on June 7, 2009
Sony has finally revealed the new PSP GO! and finally doing away with the UMD. I feel bad for those who has tons of UMD disks lying around their house, i only have a few of those so its ok to let them gather dust somewhere. The PSP gets redesigned, now features a sliding screen and the shoulder buttons neatly tucked behind, which making it a phone would seem or would look bad, unless newer versions would incorporate a touchscreen. So i guess Sony has considered the PSP-3000 a dud. With games such as Gran Turismo Mobile coming to the PSP this year, things are quite looking good for the PSP.

PSX eBoot Creator Tool
Posted on May 14, 2009
Impaler PSX eBoot CreatorThis app was created to simplify the process of building eBoots from Playstation games. It allows the users, based on how many disks are selected, create a single or multi-disk eBoot. It also allows users to select a previous eBoot and will convert it to an ISO. Currently the only disk format that is supported is ISO. There is a link to a disk converter for download to convert BIN/IMG files to ISO.
Step 1: Select an eBoot / ISO
This selection screen allows the user to select an ISO or EBoot. If an EBoot is selected, the user will be prompted for a new name and the eBoot will be ripped back into an ISO. Then the newly created ISO will be selected. Currently the app only supports ISOs. UltraISO is available for download to convert and other images to ISOs.
Step 2: Enter an Game Title / Game Codes
Next, the user must enter a Game Title. The Game Title will be the name of the folder that is created after the application is completed. After the Title is entered, click search and a list of matches will appear. ONLY SELECT ONE code. If more than one title is selected an error is thrown.
Step 3: Select specialized boot images
Next, the user can select different images (png) for the menu. The best website that i have found is PopStation ImagePacks. After the images are downloaded, just select them.
Step 4: Create the EBoot
The last step is to click the create button, once the operation is completed. A folder is created in the results folder named like the Game Title.

Astro Boy movie adaptation coming to Wii, DS, PSP, PS2
Posted on May 11, 2009
It appears that High Voltage Software’s unannounced non-FPS title has been revealed, and … it’s only wearing underpants. According to a recent press release, the Conduit developer, along with D3Publisher, will be bringing Imagi Studios’ upcoming CGI-infused Astro Boy film to the Wii, PSP and PS2 — but in the form of a video game. How very clever! We’ll see how well this bold experiment pans out when the game drops this Fall, probably around the film’s October 23 release date.
The title will also be developed for the DS by Art Co. Ltd., who also adapted Coraline for D3Publisher. That doesn’t exactly fill us with confidence, but hey — it’s pretty tough to screw up “Finger Lasers, Arm Cannons, and Butt Machine Guns.”

PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe coming to PSP this Fall
Posted on May 5, 2009
PixelJunk Monsters is coming to PSP and, as promised, features a ton of new content not found in the PS3 version. The handheld version of the tower defense game will include all the content of PixelJunk Monsters, Encore, and a bit more. Deluxe will add a new island with ten new stages, new enemies and new music tracks. Two new towers will be introduced into the game, which players can utilize in the classic stages and Q-Games will also challenge the PJM hardcore with a brand new boss as well.
Although PSP isn’t getting Trophy support yet, Monsters Deluxe will feature a “Medal Challenge” mode that replicates the achievement system used on the console. In addition, unlocking Medals will give players access to unlockables, such as videos, artwork and more.
Finally, PixelJunk Monsters wouldn’t be complete without a co-op mode. You’ll be able to go online in both Ad-Hoc and Infrastructure modes. Nice!
